La mediación es un sistema de resolución de conflictos y también de gestión de conflictos. Existe una diferencia entre ambos conceptos. Por resolución debe entenderse la eliminación del conflicto y por lo tanto la restauración completa de la armonía.
Por gestión debe entenderse la prevención del conflicto. Se evita que se llegue a él o que se haga más grande y complejo. Nuevos conocimientos y técnicas ayudan a mediar, prevenir y armonizar el conflicto.
