La 23ª edición del Mecal, el Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes y Animación de Barcelona, tendrá lugar del 22 de marzo al 22 de abril a través de la plataforma Festhome TV y Filmin. Este año, Mecal Pro contará de nuevo con cuatro secciones a competición (Animación, Internacional, Oblicua y Documental), más de una veintena de secciones paralelas con diversidad de géneros y temáticas; y diferentes actividades paralelas. En total, más de 350 cortometrajes de más de 40 países diferentes.
Como cada año, las actividades paralelas estarán divididas por géneros:
Animación: Del 22 al 28 de marzo
Contaremos con sesiones de la sección de Animación a competición y con las secciones paralelas de Trash Anim y Oblicua, además de la sección de Mujeres Animadoras del Este. Podremos atender a una serie de masterclass, conferencias y talleres destinados a estudiantes de animación y público en general; y contaremos con el Plançó: concurso de piezas de animación de escuelas catalanas y con el taller de animación para profesores impartido por Mario Torrecillas.
Documental: Del 5 al 11 de abril
Contaremos con sesiones de la sección Documental a competición y con la sección paralela de Sex Addiction (Retrospectiva de Jan Soldat). A parte, este año habrá una novedad. Contaremos con la Jornada de Documental que constará de 3 conferencias en torno a la Financiación internacional de un proyecto de documental; además de diferentes masterclasses en torno al cine documental.
Ficción: Del 12 al 18 de abril
Contaremos con sesiones de la sección Internacional a competición y de la sección Oblicua, donde competirán las obras más innovadoras; con secciones paralelas como Talentos Españoles, Talentos Catalanes, Black Lives Matter, Trans, entre muchas otras. Además contaremos con el concurso de Escuelas de Cine de Barcelona y el Festinet. Podremos atender a diversas actividades como Coaching de Pitching de Cortometrajes o Script Doctoring, entre otras, y para finalizar tendremos el Mercado Internacional del Cortometraje: espacio de encuentro entre profesionales con reuniones one-to-one.

- Abono Mecal Pro 2021 (12€): Da acceso a todas las sesiones y actividades (excepto a los talleres y masterclasses) de la 23ª edición del Mecal Pro | Festival Internacional de Cortometrajes y Animación de Barcelona.
