Itxasoren ahotsa, zalantzarik gabe, gure jazz munduko ahotsik erakargarrienetakoa eta iradokitzaileenetakoa da. Soinu jakin baten bila abiaturik areago sakondu duen arren, azken aldi honetan, gitarrak proposatzen duen ekarpen tinbrezko horretan, pianoarekiko harremana beti izan du indartsua eta esker onekoa. Hain da horrela, eze duoan kantatu izan baitu piano-jotzaile ospetsuekin, hala nola Albert Bover, Joan Moné edo Iñaki Salvador. Conversations lanak Itxasoren unibertso intimo batera hurbiltzen gaitu, non bera beti sentitu izan baita eroso, eta non libertatea eta elkarrekiko eragina diren abiapuntua, eta proposamen oso desberdinen arteko konexio berezko bat gauzatzen den.

La voz de Itxaso es sin duda una de las más atractivas y sugerentes de nuestro panorama jazzístico. Aunque la búsqueda de una sonoridad concreta la ha llevado últimamente a profundizar más en la aportación tímbrica que propone la guitarra, su relación con el piano siempre ha sido intensa y gratificante. No en vano ha cantado en dúo junto grandes figuras del piano como Albert Bover, Joan Moné o Iñaki Salvador. En esta ocasión, forma dúo con José Luis Canal, uno de nuestros pianistas más interesantes y reconocidos, y con el que, además, comparte otros proyectos.
Conversations nos acerca a ese universo íntimo en el que Itxaso siempre se ha sentido cómoda, donde la libertad y la interacción son el punto de partida y permiten una conexión natural entre muy diferentes propuestas.
La calidez del jazz emocional de Abbey Lincoln, canciones directas al alma tomadas del ámbito del pop, o temas de compositores de largo recorrido en la música brasileira... Todas las influencias tamizadas a través de sus propias raíces sirven de pretexto para entregarse a la libertad y abstracción que el jazz permite. Sin trucos ni artificios, con la sencillez instrumental de las piezas como nota predominante.
La belleza y la sensibilidad son las armas de este dúo.
