Entre los años cuarenta y setenta del siglo XX, Javier Reyes (Haría, 1926) alternó diversos oficios con el ejercicio profesional de la fotografía en los pequeños pueblos del norte de la isla de Lanzarote y en los islotes del Archipiélago Chinijo.
Lejos de pretensiones artísticas y virtuosismos técnicos, Reyes partió de una comprometida concepción artesanal del oficio y de una innata capacidad visual para componer un archivo que hoy destaca por la veracidad y humanidad que desprenden sus fotografías.
