Begiratzeko makina, ispilu eta obturadoreen bidez ilusioak sortzen zituzten XIX. mendeko objektuek jasotzen zuten izena zen. The Watching Machine piezan, makina kutxa eszenikoa bera da. Bertan argiarekin, itzalekin eta erreflexuekin jolasten dugu, ilusioa zer den, antzezpena zer den eta antzerki-konbentzioa zer den esperimentatzeko. Argia eta itzalak ilusio optikoen bidez fikzionatzen diren instalazio txikiez osatutako pieza.
La máquina de mirar era el nombre que recibía aquellos objetos del S. XIX que a través de espejos y obturadores creaban ilusiones. En la pieza The Watching Machine la máquina, es la propia caja escénica. En ella jugamos con la luz, las sombras y los reflejos para experimentar qué es ilusión, qué es representa- ción y qué es convención teatral. Una pieza compuesta por pequeñas instalaciones donde se ficciona la luz y las sombras a través de ilusiones ópticas.
