Xahu sortu zen lau euskal musikari Musikenen elkar ezagutu eta hainbat proiektutan elkarrekin aritu zirelarik, Donostian jazza ikasten zuten bitartean. Nor bere bidetik ibili ostean, berriro ere tril egin zuten, eta proiektu berri bat sortu zen hala, lagun artean musika egiteko gogotik. Jazz laukotean konplexutasuna da nagusi: kantu berriekin osatutako kantutegi bat, bebop eta hard-bop kutsuak nahiz jazz egungoagoaren kutsuak dituena. 2018tik 2019ra, Euskal Herrian zehar ibiliko dira, eta jazz jaialdi zenbaitetan parte hartu: Donostiako Heineken Jazzaldia edo Debako Jazzezblai. Mundu osora zabaldutako pandemiarengatik etenaldi bat egin ondoren, inoiz baino indartsuago itzuli da proiektua.
Xahu nace del reencuentro de cuatro músicos vascos que se conocen en Musikene y que comparten numerosos proyectos mientras estudian jazz en Donosti. Después de tomar diferentes caminos éstos se cruzan otra vez, dando lugar a este nuevo proyecto que surge de las ganas de crear música entre amigos. Un cuarteto de jazz
en el que predomina la complicidad, con un repertorio compuesto por temas originales que tienen influencias que van desde el bebop o el hard-bop, hasta el jazz más actual. Entre 2018 y 2019 actúan por el territorio vasco, llegando a participar en festivales de jazz como Heineken Jazzaldia de Donosti o Jazzezblai de Deba. Después de un parón debido a la pandemia global, este proyecto vuelve con más fuerza que nunca.
