Cuando estás obligado a cuidar de tu rebaño, estás obligado a vivir al borde del precipicio. Esta es la historia de Maestro Paco, el último pastor con garrote de Gran Canaria, capaz de seguir los pasos de sus cabras entre riscos, grandes acantilados y profundos barrancos. Su legado, continuar con una actividad ancestral, única en Canarias.
La cinta producida por Isidoro Falcón y dirigida por Pedro Cubiles, tiene una duración de 35 minutos y ha sido seleccionada en numerosos festivales de cine.
El productor Isidoro Falcón destaca que «la colaboración de las jurrias, grupos de saltadores, ha sido fundamental en esta historia» y considera que «sólo a través del conocimiento se mantiene el valor de las tradiciones». Falcón, entusiasta del cine de montaña, asegura que la idea de ‘Jurria: Guardianes del Garrote’ surgió en 2018 tras su visita al Bilbao Mendi Film Festival, y encontró en «los paisajes de La Aldea de San Nicolás y sus grandes riscos el escenario perfecto» para contarla.
